Fraktur

A marble table that refuses to sit still.

A solid block of marble that looks as if a piece had just broken away, revealing a core of glass. Developed with the Spanish marble company Tectónica for their first collections of designer marble. Cold meets warm, gloss meets matt, order meets disruption.

The idea

Marble is usually treated with reverence: polished, protected, kept intact. Fraktur starts from the opposite thought. What if the stone looked as though it had split along its own veins, and the table simply held the pieces in place?

The block keeps its clean, geometric outline. Only one edge is broken open, with a rough, quarry-like surface that frames a wedge of pale blue glass. Depending on where you stand, the table reads as calm and monolithic or as something caught mid-movement.

Fraktur, German for fracture, is made with Tectónica, a marble company from Andalusia that works directly with the quarries. The fractured edge is worked by hand, so no two tables are alike. A backlit version turns the stone translucent in the evening and lets the veins glow from within.
